When Your Babies Have Four Legs And Fur

I am someone who firmly believes that our pets are our children. You may have real human children too, but that doesn't mean that the four-legged kind aren't also your babies.

One of the most important and proudest parts of my life is bringing up and looking after my pets (which I will be referring to as my 'babies'). It is a BIG job that comes with massive financial responsibility as well as well-fare responsibilities. Animals and humans are not that different. We all have very similar feelings, wants and needs. It is a big commitment getting a pet, you need to be there for them for the rest of their lives, right up to the moment when your time together must sadly come to an end.

Growing up, I have always been surrounded by pets and other animals. I really feel most at home and myself when I am with animals. Yes, they can be stinky, lose hair, chew up your favourite socks or have accidents all over the house, but these are the strings that come attached when you decide to adopt your new babies. A carpet is a carpet, while expensive, can be replaced. This needs to be kept in mind when you are feeling frustrated or angry over an 'accident' that will be difficult and time consuming to clean. Remember, these beings that we are dealing with are living, breathing, thinking, feeling creatures. They do not do these things to upset us, they don't have the minds of a teenager who wants revenge for not letting them borrow the car ;) The animal world thinks and acts slightly different to the human world at times and we must keep this in mind.

Owning a pet is one of the most rewarding, fulfilling things we can do in our lifetimes. Humans really do not deserve these beautiful creatures, whether they are dogs, cats, birds, fish ,horses, pigs... or any animal. These babies love unconditionally. They would do anything to make us happy. They truely love us more than they love them self and will always (with the exception of a few cats hehe) put you first.

We really do not get enough time with out loving babies; even when they have a long, full life of love and friendship, it still isn't enough time and it is devastating when they have to leave us.

They say that 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life. Like, loving everybody and being nice. Well, dogs (this can be applied to any pet though) already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long'.
